Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Professional Counselor Associate, and who do you work with?

A Professional Counselor Associate is a licensed mental health professional who has completed their master’s degree and clinical training and is registered with the state board while completing hours toward full independent licensure. I provide a welcoming, non-judgmental therapeutic space for adults and couples of all backgrounds. I have a particular clinical strength in building trusted alliances with both men navigating life transitions, emotional growth, or trying therapy for the first time, and women moving through complex identity shifts, relational stress, and life changes.

What can I expect in our first session?

Our initial free 20 minute consultation is primarily an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We will talk about what brought you to therapy, your current goals, and answer any questions you have about the process. If we decide that we’re a good fit, we’ll schedule our 55 minute intake session.

During that first full session, I’ll gather background information about the history of your presenting issues. It’s a low-pressure space designed to help you feel comfortable and begin mapping out a path forward together.

It is typical to see one another weekly for the first month and then we’ll reassess the frequency at which we’ll meet.

What do you mean by "somatic and parts work"?

Rather than just talking about your challenges from the neck up, somatic experiencing helps us tune into how stress, trauma, and emotions are held in the body and nervous system. Parts work (informed by Internal Family Systems) looks at the different "parts" of your internal world—such as the inner critic, the protector, or the part that feels overwhelmed—with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment. Together, these approaches help you move beyond coping mechanisms to create lasting internal healing.

Do you offer in-person or Telehealth options?

I have office space in NW Bend and also offer Telehealth.

How do I get started?

Getting started is simple. Reach out through the contact form or call—I’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way. Consultations are always free. During a consultation, we’ll meet for 20 minutes to feel one another out and discuss your goals and concerns for therapy.

How long does therapy usually take?

Therapy looks different for everyone. Some clients come in looking for short-term support focused on a specific transition or acute stressor, while others engage in deeper, longer-term exploratory work. We will check in regularly to ensure our work together is meeting your needs and honoring your pace.

What kinds of issues do you typically treat?

I work with clients navigating a wide range of experiences, including developmental and complex trauma, anxiety, chronic stress, nervous system dysregulation, boundary and relationship challenges, life transitions, and the general feeling of being disconnected from oneself or one's body.
